Olive trees

Long since cultivated, the olive tree has come to frequent all of the shores of the Mediterranean, establishing itself along the coast but also in the Alpilles mountains. Regardless of what time of year it is, the olive tree is consistently green, even if its size and shape vary depending on the climate, the nature of the soil, exposure to the sun, its type and how it has been grown. If we allow it to take shape freely, this lively tree often assumes the shape of a pyramid and can reach 12 to 15 metres high. In this case its trunk often becomes elongated.

Centuries old, the olive tree can be re-planted at an advanced age. Its roots can reach an underground depth of 3 metres and it withstands heat thanks to its leaves protected by a perspiration-limiting cuticle. As it is the legendary tree of our region, we have awarded it an important place in our garden nurseries.

Planted with a natural shape in our gardens until recently, it is now coveted in different shapes : rounded, flat or with a sweeping trunk.
