Its leaves are shiny dark green and its flowers a pure white, similar to other citrus tree flowers. The kumquat is a small round fruit 2 to 5cm long. Its yellow-orange skin is edible. Its skin is acid. It can be eaten fresh, often with the skin which is tender and gives it a stronger, slightly bitter flavour.
